Accessible parking in Atlanta

From a member of our community:

City of Atlanta had very few ADA parking spaces…internet indicates 4 hours free parking, but parking enforcement will ticket (photo in ticket shows ADA placard in windshield and time was within 4 hrs of metered start time). Appeal process highlighting placard in photo leads to in-person court date…not practical for appealing a $35 ticket. So even if 4 hours free is correct; Atlanta not friendly for ADA parking.

That is shameful when you are legally parked. In SC if you have a handicapped license plate or placard you are allowed free parking in all municipality owned parking lots/garages. In fact handicapped persons are allowed to park in any metered or timed spaces without fees or fines.
I am sorry you had this experience but glad you shared it so that in the future others of us who are handicapped and have legally obtained either a license plate or placard are aware of this. That turns me off from visiting Atlanta.
