Does anyone have information on where I can find a refurbished power/electric chair?
Some Centers for Independent Living offer equipment recycling programs where they take in donations of used wheelchairs and spiff them up and either resell at a low price or give away.
There are CILs in every State in the US… here is a directory… if the one closest to you does not offer equipment recycling they should be able to point you to local resources…

Thank you all for the information. Both of my husbands’ power chairs have gone down. One has completely died and the other is still questionable. Now I have avenues to research.

Its probably the battery. Try replacing them before you do anything else. Go to a battery warehouse. Do not go to a medical supply store they will charge double

see about getting a prescription from your husbands doctor for routine wheelchair maintenance. Then call the company your husband got his wheelchair from. they should be able to service the chair and bill your insurance. All private insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid will cover yearly routine servicing. this includes parts needed, ie: batteries. If you purchased your wheelchair independently you can try this as well. just call your local DME provider to see if they will work on your husbands chair with a prescription. Better to try the insurance route first. Might just save you a ton of money. The other place I have gone to is my local mobility car/van shop. Most of the paces carry wheelchairs as well and can trouble shoot for you on yours. much cheaper if you have to pay out of pocket. Good luck.

I have an electric 3 wheeled scooter in good working order. It was used but now I use power wheel chair. I am in New York. Please e mail me if you can pick it up.
If you are on Medicare they helped me get a new power chsir.
