Road trips. I bought an accessible Van so I could go on road trips, the problem is I can’t find people who want to go, everybody seems to want to fly or take a train or a cruise. My daughter moved to Saint Augustine’s and I’m dying to drive down there but would love somebody to accompany me, I live in upstate New York so I would like to make it a long leisurely trip to visit stops along the way. How do you go about finding someone who would be interested. I wish there was a site to do this.
wow! Wish I wasn’t in Oregon! I would love to travel with you!

Take the trip by yourself if your able. I live in Az. or I would take you up on it, I do travel by myself (been doing it for years) every summer to NC and Va. to visit my kids and m 75 years old.
I know exactly what you feel because I have the same issue. I’m in SC or I’d talk abiut it.
I didn’t mean to post right then. I just ginished an email to a friend saying I needed a cruise partner. I used to travel with a neighbor/friend but she passed away. I had another friend who became a widiw and we did a 2 week Alaska trip together but stexlater was diagnosed with dementia and is now in a memory care facility. I also have a conversion van and I have driven to Knoxville from here and last spring I went to Richmond but I made it a 2 day drive by stopping in the Durham, NC area both going and coming back. I find about three hours of driving tine is my limit ; I am 77. I wish you luck as I am feeling cavin fever from having been stuck inside due to Covid.
If I take this road trip I’ll go through South Carolina
Good Post, if I lived closer & was capable of driving; I would have liked to join you. Good Luck.
We too enjoy our road trips. So much less hassle than dealing with the airlines, but then we are retired. Perhaps an advertisement in your church or community center bulletin would help you find a companion.
Would go. Right now I’m in Texas. Will be in PA about August. I have a truck and a travel trailer. Travel all over this great country as I am retired.
I’d go! I live in PA, so you’d have to pick me up along the way. But I’m interested and have the time, resources, and my own mobility aids to do this! I can share the driving if you like.
I’m a 75-year-old female I use a power wheelchair to get around I can’t walk I completely take care of myself and I’m very young at heart. I was gonna take this trip at the end of April but instead I’ve decided to sign up for an American river cruise going to New Orleans so I would have to take this trip later in the year probably around the end of September tell me a little bit about yourself thanks for replying
I’m 60, female, and married. I can walk short distances only, and use a power chair or rollator. I’m independent and well-traveled, with friends and family all over the US and the world. I am vegetarian, but can make a meal out of almost anything. In addition, I am an RCI member, and can get great deals on accommodations.
I (67 F) live in the Durham NC area off I-85, I-40, & half an hour from I-95. I would love an East Coast road tripping partner, as hubby works from home & hates to deal with my electric wheelchair, luggage & infirmities! I have relatives in CNY, IN, MO, CO, TX, AK, HI, & Tampa to see, & am an avid packing expert.
Sincerely, Doris Hyde

Really depends on your style ? But is it matches our still I’m game always ready for an adventure !

I wish you were in Michigan. I also bought a Chrysler T&C so I could carry my Travel Scoot with no problems. I am ready to go almost anyplace. IU have been to 49nStates and from Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia by motorhome or car. I love to travel but am slowing up at 84.
I’ve always wanted to go to Mackinac Island I’ve never been out that way
This is NOT the time to go to Mackinac Island. It is cold up there and very few people are there year round. The ferries begin to run in Spring and the hotels open then. I have been to the Grand Hotel and it is old luxury. Fudge is the main food there.
My electric scooter is permitted there but no motorized vehicles. Lots of horse manure there. Cabs are readily available. (Horse Drawn)
Thanks but I was thinking about going maybe in the fall. I’m glad for the information because I was wondering about the scooters
After Labor Day many places close, but you can always buy fudge. The Grand Hotel offers special weekday rates and on weekends they offer specials to Senior and Church Groups if you have enough for a group rate. Many of the Island help is college students so after Labor Day the help leaves. I have been there a few times in all seasons except Winter. No ferries then and when the ice freeze they take snowmobiles across Lake Huron water. You can call if you want. Bill Saar 616-392-8189 I live in Holland, MI and we have Tulip Time the first Full week of May with 3 parades and many different activities all week. Check the Internet to see who is performing. Where do you live in Upstate NY? I also live Upstate near Ellenville and New Paltz. I enjoy road trips. However, I wouldn’t be able to take the trip you are suggesting in the near future. But perhaps we could meet for a shorter trip Upstate this summer. I am a 76 year old woman. I use a walker and a manual wheelchair. I am an amputee with a prosthetic leg. Let me know if you would like to exchange contact info.
